On Saturday, May 11th, 2019 Sports Illustrated hosted an event to celebrate the launch of this year’s issue, appropriately naming it #SiSwim On Location as their cover girls, Tyra Banks
and Camille Kostek were joined by the magazine’s other models and editorial team for a day full of internationally themed photo ops and insightful panels. Held at Ice Palace Studios in Miami, the event provided a meet and greet with the issue’s models, from pop-culture icon Barbara Palvin to trailblazer’s like Halima Aden.
Tikiyogi was fortunate enough to attend the event and it was a memorable one as it highlighted Tyra Bank’s return into the modeling industry from retirement and Halima Aden being the first Sports Illustrated model to wear a burkini. In honor of this and keeping with the theme of the magazine itself, Tikiyogi gifted her with one of its very own swimsuit’s which was met with much warmth and appreciation.
Later, Tyra Banks interviewed Kate Upton and Olivia Culpo, giving her own advice on how to appreciate each other’s differences and the power of being the first in any endeavor you aspire to, ideals which align with Tikiyogi’s own mission on working to be first in sustainable wear and the impact the brand leaves on working to save the Earth’s oceans.
